Dog
Booties
|
Booties can be used to reduce pad wear & tear on rough
surfaces, or just as a cover up for a sore or injured paw. Booties are
particularly useful for dogs with injured or sensitive feet; they can be used to
stop dogs from licking their feet, to keep bandages on and the waterproof booties
will help prevent feet from getting wet - a must for your first aid kit.
Booties fasten around the pastern (dog's "ankle") with velcro fastening. |

Note:
Use booties with caution. Booties are not
designed to cushion the impact of hard surfaces and can reduce traction and
increase the risk of your dog slipping.
Measuring
your Dog's Foot
The
measurements given below indicate the width of the bootie from left to
right.
To
select the correct size for your dog measure across the underside of your dog's
foot (from the inside toe to the outside toe) while he/she is putting weight on
it - you can do this by getting your dog to stand directly on a ruler or tape
measure, or by having your dog stand on a sheet of paper and marking around the
foot and then taking the width measurement off the paper.
Allow
extra for the height of the foot, e.g. if a dog's foot measures 3 inches across
then a bootie of 3.5 or 4 inches would be suitable in most cases.
Waterproof Bootie (above
& right)
A
water-resistant bootie suitable for outdoor use. This bootie has a double-sided boot
section made from an abrasion-resistant, waterproof material with a
polar fleece lining and sleeve. This bootie will help keep the foot
clean and dry outdoors - includes one velcro fastening at
pastern.
Note: Booties
may not be suitable for use on slippery surfaces such as
floorboards or tiles.
