Because no two dogs are exactly the same, Windchill sledding harnesses are available in a large range of standard sizes or can made to measure for your dog - see the table of standard sizes below. For dog sledding using a scooter, bike or cart you will require a Gangline to attach to the dog(s) harness. The Ganglines must include a shock absorber section so that the risk of jarring injuries to your dog are minimised should your bike, scooter or cart come to a sudden stop while your dogs are running at full speed. Size chart
Neck fit is critical - measure only on one side of the neck from the point just above the breastbone to the point at the centre front of the withers (dog's shoulder blades). Hold the tape measure tight against the dog's skin - do not allow for fur. Length Measure from the point above the breastbone, down between the front legs then up to the base of the dog's tail. The length is secondary, so get the neck measurement right then choose which length best suits your dog. If you are not sure, choose a size that is longer rather than shorter.
For example, if your dog has a 10 inch neck and a length of 31 inches, you need to order a Size 10 Long.
Half
Sizes For example, a standard Size 10.5 would have a 10.5 inch neck and a length of 30 inches, and a Size 9.5 Short would have a neck measurement of 9.5 inches and a length of 26 inches. If your dog's measurements do not correspond with any of the standard sizes, we can make a harness to the measurements you provide to fit your dog.

If this is your first harness, you may also need to think about ordering a bungee line, which connects the harness to the scooter or cart. Windchill bungee lines are made from poly rope and incorporate an elastic "bungee" section which takes up the shock and prevents jarring injuries to the dog. Bungee lines are available for just one dog, or you can get gangline setups for teams of 2 or more dogs.

The Sledding training lead is an aid to assist with sledding training with your dog, particularly for teaching turns and passing.The lead consists of adjustable shorter and longer section with a snap hook at each end and a handle in the middle. The longer section of the lead attaches to your dog’s collar. The shorter section attaches to the toggle loop at the rear of the dog’s harness allowing the handler to keep the harness under tension while guiding the dog with the section attached to the collar.
Belly Band The training lead comes with an optional belly band (also available separately) which is designed to prevent a dog from backing out of a harness by joining the two sides of an X-back harness on the underside of the dog. The belly band consists of an adjustable loop which is wrapped around the harness webbing just in front of the webbing intersect at the ribs (see diagram above). The belly band should be adjusted so that it is a little loose, but not so loose that the dog can step into or get tangled in it. When adjusted correctly, the belly band will prevent a dog from backing out of a harness, and can be used in conjunction with the sledding training lead or on it’s own.
The weight pull harness is designed to allow maximum pulling power and comfort under heavy loads. If fitted correctly the weight-pull harness will not restrict movement when the dog's head is down low during pulls, and will not put pressure on the upper arm-shoulder joint. Weight-pull harnesses are made from 25 mm (1inch) synthetic webbing* with synthetic thick polar-fleece padding and are double stitched with heavy-duty synthetic thread. *Note: it is a common misconception that wider webbing is better, however wider webbings are not necessarily any stronger and cannot sit flat on most breeds of dog, causing one edge of the webbing to dig into the dog - any discomfort will prevent optimal pulling. Wider webbing may be appropriate for giant breeds (over 55 kg) - please phone for a quote. (colours limited)
Padding extends around the neck and chest areas for added comfort and to minimise chafing. Harnesses are padded from A-B, B-D and A-D - more than on most other weight-pull harnesses.

The adjustable puppy harness is ideal for getting your pups used to the feel of wearing a harness and to the idea of pulling. It incorporates an adjustable underbelly strap which buckles up to prevent your puppy from backing out of the harness.
Four standard sizes are available to suit puppies of most breeds, however Puppy Harnesses can also be made to order to suit any size. Small & Medium Puppy Harnesses
Made from 3/4 inch synthetic

Name is embroidered onto a section of black webbing. If colour is not specified we do the embroidery in the same colour as the main item on the black background (as pictured). If you would like a different colour lettering please provide details on the order form. Lettering for name-tags can be all uppercase (shown at right) or a combination of upper and lower case. Lettering height is approximately 3/4 the width of the webbing. Name tags are removable and can be added to most Windchill products.

Sledding Training Lead
As this harness is fully
adjustable and is only padded at the chest it must only be used for light training - once your
dog is pulling hard, doing longer distances or competing in events you will
require a fitted X-back or H-back harness for sledding, or weight pull harness
(see above).
